The Stained Glass Creation Process

Stainedglass windows, panels and doors can often be a combination of coloured, clear, and stained glass panels with varying textures.

The initial stages involve the stained glass being painted, fired, and cut and ground to shape. It is then built into a window with lead cames encompassing the edges of each piece of glass. The leaded stained glass windows feature cames which are available in various sizes. These cames can create further artistic illusion and interest with bespoke designs.

At Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists, we manufacture all of our stained glass windows, panels and doors using traditional techniques. We do not use the plastic film variety and stick-on lead that is often used by double-glazing companies. This is often incorrectly labelled as stained glass.
