Lord of the Rings Stained Glass Lamp

To celebrate the release of the Hobbit and the last film of Middle Earth, the Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists team has found this Lord of the Rings themed stained glass lamp to share with you. Artist alledelgardo designed and made this stained glass lamp from scratch and it is amazing.

The lamp features three panels dedicated to each part of the trilogy; The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King and depicts the important events related to each instalment. The fourth panel shows the Lord of the Rings logo in all its fantastical glory.

After drawing her design on paper, alledelgardo cut out the paper and stuck it to the appropriately corresponding glass colour. Then she carefully cut the glass, lined the edges with copper foil and painstakingly soldered every single piece together. By using stained glass panes with different finishes and oxidising the solder a more striking look was created and leant more depth to the design.

Of course, no Tolkein fan art is complete without the famous poem:

One ring to rule them all

One ring to find them

One ring to bring them all

And in the darkness bind them

By experimenting with glass etching she was able to recreate the imagery of the One Ring and its inscription both in the English and Black Speech. This stained glass lamp is just another example of how glass design can take on any form and bring to art to life.
