In January of 2014, Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists Stained Glass Specialists were contacted to make emergency repairs at House of Fraser in Bournemouth.

House of Fraser is home to several vast, art-deco style stained glass windows that light up the building’s stairwell between each floor. With pieces of the windows missing, Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists embarked on an in-situ repair job to bring the windows back to their former glory.

Having reached the elevated windows with a scaffolding structure, Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists and his highly trained team were able to gain access to the windows from the outside, repair existing & damaged glass and then replace any missing pieces with new & matching glass. There were 2 complete windows missing and new panels were made & fitted to match the originals. In addition, another 5 panels were too damaged to repair on site so were removed to the workshops for re-leading and replacement of broken glass.

The in-situ project duration was 1 month, and the results were brilliant; each of the building’s listed art-deco windows were conserved and restored to pristine condition to ensure a long life into the future. Generations to come can now enjoy their historical importance and aspect.
