Conservation Grade Double Glazed Windows - Altwood Road, Maidenhead

The Brief

Conservation grade double glazing is a great solution for reducing the levels of heat lost in your home, especially if your house is a listed or older building. This can also help you save money if your energy bills are creeping up during the colder months of the year. Recently, we were asked to fit windows with conservation grade double glazing and wooden window frames at a property in Altwood Road in Maidenhead.

Getting to Work

Our team of specialists at Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists can produce double glazed units that replicate a ‘real’ leaded window, which is a safe, convenient process that makes the windows easy to maintain. We were given the task of fitting 14 windows with bespoke conservation grade double glazing units. Firstly, we applied stick on leads to the conservation grade glass. Following this, we soldered the joints and patinated the window and boundary leads. This ensures that the window stays protected whilst more closely replicating an original leaded window. We then fitted brand new Accoya wooden window frames to each double glazed unit. However, conservation grade double glazing units can be fitted into existing frames as well, depending on preference.

The Result

This property in Altwood Road in Maidenhead was left with high-quality wooden double glazed windows, maintaining the property’s character. Our conservation grade double glazing also means that the property’s level of safety and heat preservation has significantly improved.
