Conservation Grade Double Glazing for Leaded Glass Windows - Kemble, Gloucestershire
The Brief
Recently Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists stained and leaded glass specialists took on a project at a home in Kemble, Gloucestershire. We were asked to fit eleven conservation grade double glazed units to match existing leaded glass windows and refurbish six satin black metal window frames. The overall aim was to preserve the beauty of the original leaded glass, whilst increasing thermal insulation and durability.
Getting to Work
We got to work at the property by measuring the original leaded glass windows to ensure the double glazed units would be made to the correct size.
Back at our workshop, we carefully manufactured the brand-new conservation grade double glazed units. These units have stick on leads to emulate the authentic look of real leaded glass, maintaining the home’s character with added amenities.
In addition to this, we carried out window frame repair for the metal casement window frames. We gave the frames a thorough clean and fixed any broken parts to ensure they were strong and secure for the future.
Once all the remedial work was complete, we returned to the property to fit the new leaded windows with double glazing and metal window frames in a satin black finish.
The Result
Both our team and the homeowner were very pleased with the end result. The conservation grade double glazing has offered reduced heat loss and fantastic durability for the future, all whilst preserving the charming appeal of real leaded glass.
