The Brief

This client commissioned our specialists to create three replacement leaded window panels for their new front door in Bournemouth, Dorset. Two of the leaded lights were to be fitted into the new front door itself, designed to flood the entranceway with natural light and provide an impressive aesthetic to the front of the house.One of the most exciting parts about this project was the replacement arched transom leaded window that was to be installed above the door. The architecture of the front of this house lent itself beautifully to an arched leaded window being the centre piece of this design. The client wanted the window to be simple and the house number clearly displayed in the middle.

Replacement leaded windows

To create the replacement leaded windows, we first had to take the measurements of the arch above the door and the rectangular panels in the new door. A project like this involved working very closely with the client to get the design of the three leaded lights exactly right. Once the design was set, we cut each piece of glass to shape and fixed them with high quality bonding. These leaded windows will remain strong and durable for many years which is important for security when installing in a front door.

The Result

The client was incredibly happy with the final result once we had installed the finished leaded lights. The replacement leaded windows were in keeping with the style of the house and added a real striking feature to the exterior of the building.
