Lead Window Restoration - The Hermitage, Poole

The Brief

‍Stained glass specialists Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists specialise in both leaded windows and window repair, so we were contacted to re-lead 1 inner door leaded window panel at The Hermitage in Poole.

‍Getting to Work

‍The lead was in poor condition, cracking on each solder joint and in danger of falling out. We removed the leaded glass window in the door frame and took it to our workshop in Dorset for re-leading.  For the leaded window repair, we added strengthening bars within each lead cane and we managed to stiffen the door panel to protect it from any future traumas.

‍The Result

‍After the lead window restoration, the panel looks as good as new. A re-leaded panel will last in-excess of 100 years in the best conditions.
