Lead Window Restoration in Cobham, Surrey

Fairmile Avenue is a stunning road in the charming village of Cobham, Surrey. As stained glass window specialists, we had the task of removing lead panels from a house’s stairwell feature in Fairmile Avenue in order to provide a complete and full restoration.

The Lead Window Restoration Process

Once moved to our workshop, the first task was catalogue the glass then strip each panel of its old, deteriorating lead. The panel was then re leaded using the existing and original glass using traditional methods and techniques.

In the meantime, we fitted the window openings with 4mm temporary glazing until the restored leaded window could be re-fitted. While some companies board the windows up during this time, here at Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists we want your home to look as pleasing as possible from the inside and out throughout the leaded glass restoration process.

The Result

At Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists, we are very pleased with the results of the recent lead window restoration. The newly leaded window looks impressive, while still fitting in with the house’s overall appearance. In addition, each leaded panel now has a lifespan of at least 100 years!
