Secondary Glazing to Leaded Windows - Vernon Street, London

The Brief

‍Many homeowners look to upgrade their leaded windows in older homes with secondary glazing as without it, the windows can cause the home to be draughty and insufficiently insulated. As we are secondary glazing suppliers and manufacturers, we were contacted by this client on Vernon Street in London to fit 26 panels of bespoke secondary glazing to their leaded glass windows.

‍Getting to Work

‍For the leaded windows glazing we cleaned and fit 26 panels of secondary glazing to the outside face of their original leaded windows for added amenity and security.

We used a 4mm clear, toughened float glass cut bespoke to each window. To keep the exact aesthetic of the leaded windows, we used a very minimalist approach for secondary glazing and applied a white sealant to the edge of the glass, to seal the float glass into place.

‍The Result

‍The leaded windows glazing resulted in improved safety and security for the building and, as you can see from the pictures, the appearance of the windows hasn’t changed. We use a secondary glazing system that required no framework so that it’s almost invisible once fitted, keeping the beauty of the original windows.
